Durham Hosting Event for Businesses Seeking City Contracts
Durham Hosting Event for Small Businesses Seeking City Contracts

Local, small businesses in construction, architecture, engineering, surveying, and more are invited to a free outreach event next month to learn how to qualify for contracting opportunities with the City of Durham.
Hosted by the City’s Finance Department, the event will highlight the City’s Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE) Program, which is designed to help local, small businesses compete for City contracts. The program is open to businesses in Durham, Orange, Person, and Chatham counties and focuses on construction, architecture, engineering, surveying, and other service industries.
The event will take place on Thursday, May 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the City Hall Annex, located at 101 City Hall Plaza, Durham, N.C. 27701. Attendees will be able to meet directly with City staff who manage the SLBE Program, learn what to expect during the application and approval process, and receive tips on how to monitor and respond to bid and proposal opportunities.
“The SLBE Program is one of the ways we’re working to increase employment opportunities and strengthen our local economy by making sure more local, small businesses can access City contracts,” said Finance Director Tim Flora. “This event is a great chance for these businesses to ask questions and connect with the people who manage our program.”
Pre-registration is requested by noon on Sunday, May 18.
To learn more about program eligibility requirements, visit the SLBE Program webpage, email program staff, or call 919-560-4180.
