Singer October London recently sat down with Karen Clark for a candid interview that gave fans a closer look at his life, music, and the upcoming October Nights Calling All Lovers Tour. With stops alongside Tamar Braxton and Ro James, October promises a night full of soul and love. “We kick it off this Thursday, and it’s gonna be an amazing tour, man,” he revealed. “We just plan on putting a lot of love in the air.”

The tour kicks off on April 25th at the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC). October described it as a celebration of R&B and real connection, crediting his purpose to keeping the spirit of romance alive in his music.

Karen also dug into a question fans have been buzzing about since he stepped on the scene. October’s voice has often been compared to the legendary Marvin Gaye, so much so that even Gaye’s estate reached out. “At first, there was a little pushback,” October admitted. “She [a representative for the estate] freaked out that I sounded like him for a second, but once I explained I wasn’t trying to fill his shoes, we talked it out.” The relationship has since evolved, with the estate even endorsing him for a possible Marvin Gaye biopic. “They actually said if they thought about doing a Marvin Gaye biopic, I should be the one doing it or at least the music. I was like, okay, awesome.”

Talk about a blessing!

At one point, October revealed he nearly left the music world entirely. “I was gonna pursue truck driving school,” he confessed. “Then I got a call from Jazze Pha, who took my music straight to Snoop [Dogg], and after that, it was a wrap.” Looks like destiny had bigger plans.

When the topic turned to romance, October painted the perfect vibe for a romantic night. “You gotta start with a bubble bath for your lady, then get all dolled up, have a steak dinner, and end it front-row at my show with Tamar and Ro James,” he said with a laugh.

October even envisioned a dream dinner party with icons like Michael Jackson, Prince, and Luther Vandross. “We wouldn’t even listen to music. We’d be making it,” he joked.
