Durham Hosts 22nd Annual Women’s Forum
What: 22nd Annual Women’s Forum: Moving Forward Together – Women Educating and Inspiring Generations

Event Details:
- The Human Relations Division of the City’s Neighborhood Improvement Services Department and ISLA NC are proud to present the 22nd Annual Women’s Forum in honor of National Women’s History Month.
- This forum is open to the public and free of charge. This year’s theme, Moving Forward Together – Women Educating and Inspiring Generations, celebrates women who have made significant contributions to the Durham community.
- The forum moderator is Beverly Thompson, director of the City’s Communications Department, and Alexis John, acting director of the City’s Neighborhood Improvement Services Department, will deliver Welcoming Remarks.
- The forum will feature a group of panelists with diverse perspectives who will discuss topics such as education, creating balance, personal growth. Panelists include:
- Nida Allam, chair of the Durham County Board of Commissioners
- Shanika Baughman, construction and real estate executive at Gilbane
- Vanity Reids Deterville, program director of Gender Resource Advocacy and Support at the LGBTQ Center of Durham
- Linda Shropshire Eudy, founder and owner of Ella West Gallery
- Maya Jackson, founder of MAAME, Inc.
- Mercedes McCurley, senior program manager of Family Engagement at the DPS Foundation
- A meet-and-greet with light refreshments is from 5:30 – 6 p.m. in the City Hall lobby to allow attendees to network and build connections with City staff and community leaders. The forum is from 6 – 7:30 p.m. inside City Council Chambers.
- Spanish interpretation will be available for in-person attendees. Free parking vouchers for the Chapel Hill Street Garage, located directly across the street from City Hall at 326 E. Chapel Hill St., will also be provided.
