Wake County Holding Bookmark Constest For Creative Kids

Wake County Public Libraries invites readers of all ages to put their creativity to the test in a special bookmark-designing contest as part of the 2025 Summer Reading Program. The contest runs throughout March, and winning designs will be printed and distributed at all 23 Wake County libraries this summer.

This year’s theme, “Color Our World,” encourages participants to create original bookmarks that celebrate the joy of reading and the vibrant world of books. Artists can pick up an entry form at their local library. Designs must be submitted in person.

“Summer is always an exciting time of year at our libraries, and this contest is a great way to get even more people involved,” said Susan Evans, chair, Wake County Board of Commissioners. “We hope this inspires people of all ages to express their creativity and share their love of reading with the community.”

The contest is open to all ages, with one winner selected from each of the following categories: ages 3-6, 7-12, 13-17 and 18 and older.

Submission Guidelines

Designs must be original and free of copyrighted images.
One entry per person.
Artwork must fit within the provided 2-inch-by-8-inch frame on the entry form.
Only physical entries will be accepted.
All submissions must be turned in to a Wake County Public Libraries location by 9 p.m. Monday, March 31.

The winner in each category will receive 20 printed copies of the bookmark they design, a printed poster of their design and recognition at a celebratory reception.
