WASHINGTON–Matt Gaetz is withdrawing his nomination for Attorney General in President-elect Trump’s cabinet.
The former Florida Congressman is accused of having sex with a minor in the past and some Republican Senators expressed reservations about the nomination.
Gaetz has denied the accusations and the results of a House Ethics Committee investigation into Gaetz are not being released because he stepped down from his seat last week.
Gaetz said on Thursday that it is clear his “confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition.”
It’s not known yet who Trump will now nominate for the post.
