The Pitt County Health Department will hold a Diabetes Block Party to kick off National Diabetes Awareness Month on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Pitt County Health Department located at 201 Government Circle, Greenville, N.C.

The event is free and open to the public.

“We’re excited to bring the community together for this informative and engaging event focused on diabetes prevention and living well with diabetes,” says Patti Columbe, Diabetes Care Coordinator. “Whether you are pre-diabetic, have gestational diabetes, living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, or want to learn more about preventive measures, this is the perfect opportunity for you!”

Here’s what to expect at the Diabetes Block Party:

• Fun and Games: Enjoy exciting games, giveaways and delicious snacks.

• Learn from the Experts: Visit our interactive booths staffed by experts in Health

Promotions, Nutrition, Minority Diabetes Prevention Program, Diabetes SelfManagement Education and Support Program and our Community Care Team Partners.

• Free Health Screenings: Take advantage of free health screenings for A1c, blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, weight and physical assessments.

• Your Diabetes, Your Way: Discover the latest in diabetes technology and learn how to manage your condition effectively.

• Connect and Support: Join our support group gathering to connect with others living with diabetes and share experiences.
