What Are The Rising Halloween Costume Trends In NC This Year?

Halloween is now a week away, and in case you’ve waited until now to get a costume, we take a look at the trends on the rise in North Carolina this year.
For our data, we made a trip to the Google Trends website to check out the rising queries related to the key term “costume” in the past 30 days. This means that whoever searched “costume” also searched these terms.
In the state overall, it appears that horror characters reign supreme as Jason Voorhees, the hockey mask-wearing killer from the Friday The 13th franchise is the fastest-rising costume inquiry in the past 30 days. Another rising query is from a more recent horror franchise, Terrifier, which means we could be seeing a lot more “Art The Clown” costumes on the block.
The third rising costume query is a controversial figure, as folks are searching for costumes related to embattled hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Given his recent legal woes, this may very well be a risk.
Here are the 10 rising “costume” inquiries in NC, according to Google Trends:

Looking at the trends in the Raleigh-Durham area
Bringing the search a little closer to home, the fastest-rising costume queries in the Raleigh-Durham area are a little more wholesome. The famed Dr. Seuss character The Lorax is at the top, followed by Strawberry Shortcake and Minnie Mouse.

How about the US as a whole?
As we take a look at the rising trends of the country as a whole, the ideas range from the nostalgic to the sexy to the outright ridiculous. Not surprisingly, “baby oil” was the fastest-rising trend in the United States. (Maybe a couples costumes with the Diddy one?) Landing at #2 is the classic “Playboy Bunny” look, followed by “Art The Clown” from the aforementioned Terrifier franchise.
