In not-so-surprising news, several senior staff members stepped down from Lt. Governor Mark Robinson’s gubernatorial campaign over the weekend.
As reported by WTVD, the campaign announced on Sunday that senior advisor Conrad Pogorzelski, campaign manager Chris Rodriguez, finance director Heather Whillier, and deputy campaign manager Jason Rizk all stepped down from their positions.
“I appreciate the efforts of these team members who have made the difficult choice to step away from the campaign, and I wish them well in their future endeavors,” Robinson said in a statement. “I look forward to announcing new staff roles in the coming days.”
The announcement comes days after a bombshell report from CNN, claiming that Robinson made several lewd and inflammatory comments on an adult website’s message board over a decade ago.

Among the comments made, Robinson allegedly described himself as a “Black Nazi” and said that he’d prefer to have Adolf Hitler as president instead of Barack Obama. He also made several derogatory comments about women, the LGBTQ+ community and Black people.
Robinson has denied CNN’s claims and has vowed to stay in the race for governor.
Robinson added in his statement over the weekend, “My campaign will continue to focus on the substantive issues at stake in this election: building an economy that grows from Murphy to Manteo; cutting taxes and eliminating unnecessary red tape; removing politics out of our classrooms; and cracking down on violent crime and dangerous drugs.”
