I remember stepping out on faith and moving to a city where I hardly knew anyone. As an introvert who cringes at the thought of attending networking events, it was a challenge to meet new friends who matched my vibe. Eventually, after a few awkward interactions at local shindigs, I did find my tribe, but if the app Palynx had existed back then, my journey to meeting my now crew would have been much easier.
Palynx, a creation from Nandy Millette, was born out of a familiar struggle. Millette moved to the United States for law school with high hopes of fostering genuine connections with compatible people. Instead, she found a reality far from the vibrant American social scenes often depicted in media. Her time in law school was a solitary one, devoid of the friendships and adventures she had envisioned. “Law school was cold and siloed,” she recalls. “The three years I spent there were incredibly tough for me. I spent most of my time daydreaming about graduation and counting down the days until I could move to New York City and finally have the social life I longed for.”
How Palynx Started
Post-graduation closely resembled Millette’s sans-social, pre-graduation life. The novice lawyer spent most hours working in corporate law and sleeping on the weekends, with no time to meet new friends. However, she found solace in escaping the hustle and bustle of her new reality to explore small towns in the Hudson Valley. Millette loved the serenity of her journeys in the region so much that she decided to cultivate a life there.
She documented her move and renovations on her space in the Hudson Valley on her TikTok, which generated a community of online friendships, prompting a spontaneous act that would change the trajectory of her social life. “I asked my followers if they would be interested in joining me for a trip to the Hudson Valley, and the response was overwhelming. I organized my first trip with 15 women from different parts of NYC from that one video,” detailed Millette. “We took the train to Cold Spring, made candles, enjoyed brunch, and explored together—it was magical. These were the friends I had been searching for, and they had found me through a simple TikTok post.”
After the Hudson Valley trip, Millette continued to plan events with her new-found tribe, and these events and connections helped establish Palynx. “I wanted to create a platform for people like me—those who love exploring, seek adventure, and are open to new friendships. After the renovation, I listed my cottage on Airbnb, packed my bags, and headed back to Brooklyn to start building Palynx,” the social media influencer revealed.
Palynx is a conduit for people to meet, engage in activities of interest, and discover new things. The app provides real-life connections that many people are unable to develop due to the effects of the pandemic and social media.
How Palynx Works
Palynx’s algorithm captures each user’s preferences and interests and utilizes that data to customize the user’s experience, helping them explore their communities in new and exciting ways. “Features like ‘Last Minute Hang-Out’ enable spontaneous adventures at the spur of the moment, while ‘Palynx Pairings’ matches users with events and potential friends, making it effortless to plan outings,” explained Millette.

Event organizers can also use Palynx to promote their upcoming events directly to users who express interest. “Whether it’s a small gathering, a large festival, a workshop, or a social meetup, Palynx is designed to accommodate all types of events, ensuring that organizers can reach the right people,” said the founder.
To this day, Palynx has successfully connected its users with like-minded individuals who enjoy the same hobbies, cafes, concerts, and even travel groups. Most recently, a group of women linked up on the app to enjoy a festival together. Since that event, they have been excitedly awaiting their next adventure, a trip to the Hamptons in August. “This is the magic of Palynx—transforming ordinary experiences into shared adventures and lasting friendships.”
