If You Buy Online The IRS May Want Your Dime
Shopping online has turned into a real popular item in the last few years and why wouldn’t it since you can get everything from a book to a car without leaving your bedroom. Now its tax time and while you may have listed each item with care and waits for uncle Sam to teeter tooter with your interest there’s something else that may affect your pockets.
This specifically is targeting those online users who frequently do tax-free online shopping. A new law is being pushed that will force you to open your wallets a little wider on April 15th.
According to CNET for a great example would be how Amazon customers in California don’t pay sales tax but are supposed to voluntarily write a check for the full amount on tax day–the concept is called a “use tax.” Few people do. Tax collectors view it as a loophole that can be closed by requiring Amazon to share customer data with the government.
This is just a friendly reminder to be watchfulm and use tact if you are accustomed to Ebay, Amazon, Overstock, etc. So heads up or head may roll. Do you honestly think that this is fair? Let your friends over at Foxy know your thoughts.
