What Would You Do If Someone Else Breastfed Your Infant? It Happened At A Local Daycare

A daycare worker in Carrboro breastfed another co-worker’s 3 month-old baby and now the child’s mother wants charges pressed against the woman.
Kaycee Oxendine recorded video from security footage at Carrboro Early School that shows a coworker adjusting her shirt and breastfeeding Oxendine’s baby. Oxendine says her son’s teacher informed her that the baby was constipated. Another daycare worker suggested that she could breastfeed Oxendine’s son to relieve the his constipation, according to ABC11. Oxendine says she told the worker no, twice.
Once Oxendine left the room of the daycare center where she also works, footage shows that the co-worker proceeded to breastfeed the baby. The child, who was born prematurely, is lactose intolerant and became ill later the night of the incident. Oxendine rushed the baby to UNC Hospitals.
Oxendine wants the co-worker brought up on charges. She said,”To me, a criminal act was committed against him. Not only did you put your breast to my son, you also made my son sick because he’s lactose. So you’ve put something in his body that his body can’t digest.”
The co-worker has been fired. No charges have been filed against the woman. According to ABC11, police are investigating the case as misdemeanor child abuse.
