An Italian man was ordered to pay $335 per month in child support when he divorced from his wife in 2002. His daughter was six years old at the time.

When Europe experienced a recession in 2008, the pizza maker couldn’t afford to write a check to his ex. So he paid her with pizza and other meals from his restaurant. But, in 2010, his restaurant had to close. The mother filed a criminal complaint with the court over non-payment of child support.

The court sided with the pizza maker and said that his obligations had been met, according to the Huffington Post. His lawyer argued that the father had fulfilled other aspects of his custody obligations.
