According to ABC11, more than 62,000 Wake County residents are without power. If you don’t have power, contact Duke Energy at 1-800-419-6356. Or go to their website here to register for notifications on outages.

Next steps:

-Unplug your appliances to avoid a surge damaging your items. Leave a light on.

-If you don’t have heat, leave a trickle of water running in a sink to avoid having your pipes freeze.

-If you have a generator, operate it safely. Plug appliances into the generator. Don’t use the generator in the house. Don’t connect the generator directly to your home.

-Do not use heaters in the house that are intended for outdoor use. This includes grills. Do not use a kerosene heater inside.

-Limit the number of times you open your refrigerator to preserve fresh food. Also, consider filling your fridge with frozen water.
