Ashley Madison has been attacked by hackers threatening to release customer information. This is a problem for customers because the site is focused on helping married people cheat.
Oops.
The hackers are threatening to publish customer information on a public website if the cheating website isn’t taken down. According to CNN, Ashley Madison has more than 37 million users and has bragged in the past about it’s tight internet security.
The hackers are saying if the website isn’t shut down they willĀ “release customer records, including profiles with all the customers’ secret sexual fantasies and matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, and employee documents and emails.”
The site says they’ve hired one of the world’s top internet security firms to work on the breach.
Something similar happened in March when the website Adult Friend Finder was hacked. According to CNN,Ā 3.5 million people’s sexual preferences, fetishes and secrets were exposed.Ā Included in the exposed personal information are customers’ email addresses, usernames, passwords, birthdays and zip codes, in addition to their sexual preferences.
