McLaurin Case Is Now Murder Investigation
Deputies arrested 3 men Friday in connection with the murder of a Goldsboro teen and a murder warrant has been issued for a fourth suspect. Kevin Edward Smith, an 18-year-old black male, of 200 Marlette Dr. Goldsboro and Jerome Jilah Butts, 19, of 186 Sandstone Drive, Goldsboro, were arrested and charged with murder. They have been placed in the Wayne County jail under no bond pending his first appearance.
Leonard Eugene Joyner, 21, of 104 Cotton Field Drive, Goldsboro, surrendered to a Wayne County sheriff’s deputy Friday evening after seeing himself identified on TV as a suspect.
A fourth suspect, Curtis Etheridge, a 17-year-old black male, of 113 Biltmore Dr. Goldsboro, is currently being sought in connection with this case. A warrant for his arrest has been issued charging him with Murder.
